Elizabethtown
was founded in the summer of 1867 after the discovery of copper ore.
Not long after, gold was discovered and the area around Elizabethtown
became a magnet of industry.

of Isleta is located in the Rio Grande Valley, 15 miles south of

Native Americans posing in photographer's studio with rifles. No
photographer or location identified. Print has two points of damage:
top center area; and, lower right-hand margin. Neither point
seriously impacts this circa 1890s image. Dimensions: 8 inches by 5
inches. Manila card and format reminiscent of photographic work done
by Horace S. Poley; however, this is only a logical attribution, as this
image was among a group of Native American photographs by Poley.
Tones are rich; detail in clear and concise.
